Hello
How are you?
With me its fine. I thought it was time to do another book review, that i said on bookstagram a few days ago that i would do. So its time to make that review.
The book that i´m gonna talk about i read between december 23 to december 27. It was my last book of 2022 and it was so good. The book i´m talking about is.
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave and was published in 2020. I saw this book at Nerdreadingbooks she used to also blog. And it was at her blog i saw her book review of this book and i thought i want to read it. And now i have. The cover to the book is so beautiful but the story is so good as well.

Story: Finnmark, Norway, 1617. Twenty-year-old Maren Magnusdatter stands on the craggy coast, watching the sea break into a sudden and reckless storm. Forty fishermen, including her brother and father, are drowned and left broken on the rocks below. With the menfolk wiped out, the women of the tiny Arctic town of Vardø must fend for themselves.
Three years later, a sinister figure arrives. Absalom Cornet comes from Scotland, where he burned witches in the northern isles. He brings with him his young Norwegian wife, Ursa, who is both heady with her husband’s authority and terrified by it. In Vardø, and in Maren, Ursa sees something she has never seen before: independent women. But Absalom sees only a place untouched by God, and flooded with a mighty evil.
I will say the first 50 pages was a bit slow for me but after that, it was like i couldn´t stop reading the more i got in to the story. It captivated me and i love that feeling when i read a book. If you like books about witches you might like this one. I like to read books about witches and i really liked this one. The cover is not just stunning the story is captivating to. I want to read more from this author and i realized i really like historical books. This is a historical book. And the best part is, its inspired by true events. So if you do have some more tips let me know.
If you are like me that like historical books that inspired by true events + witches you will love this one just as i did.
